Epidural Steroid Injection

Epidural Steroid Injections are used to alleviate chronic low back pain. The injection delivers steroids directly into the epidural space of the spine. Other locations for the direct injection of steroids include the nerve roots and various joint spaces including facet joints and sacro-iliac joints. Some causes of low back pain that benefit from injections are herniated disk, degenerative disc disease, lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar facet (zygapophyseal) disease, coccyxdynia, sacroilitis and arthritis of the lumbar spine. This procedure is done in our office and usually takes less than an hour. We ask that you have someone drive you home afterwards, as a local anesthetic will be used.
