Nerve Conduction Studies

Electrodiagnostic medicine studies diseases of the nerves and muscles. You can have problems with your muscles and nerves in only one area or throughout your body. You may have numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, and/or muscle cramping. Tests that are used by the doctors are NCS, needle EMG, and evoked potentials. The results of the tests help the doctor decide which method of treatment is best suited for you. These tests are conducted in our facility.

Doctors who perform EMGs should complete 4 years of medical school with an additional 3 to 4 more years of training in a residency program. A trained assistant or technologist, under the supervision of a doctor, can perform nerve conduction studies (NCS).
