Eric G. B. Zellner

Eric G. B. Zellner, M.D., F.A.A.P.M.& R., completed his medical degree at the University of Monterrey in 1981.  He also holds a BA in Political Science from Cornell University and a MA in Microbiology from Syracuse University.  Dr. Zellner completed the residency program at the Rusk Institute of New York University Medical Center and the Chief Resident.  Dr. Zellner has been an active member of the medical staff of Cape Fear Valley Health Systems since 1985.  He has held the position of Medical Director of the Southeastern Regional Rehabilitation Center and is a former Chairman of the Rehabilitation Committee and the President of the NC Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Zellner belongs to numerous service and professional organizations including the American Medical Association, NC and Cumberland County Medical Societies, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, Association of Physicians’ Executives, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Dr. Zellner established Highland Health P.A. and Physicians’ Total Rehab of Fayetteville with Dr. Zane T. Walsh, Jr. in 1993.  Since then, PTR has provided cost effective outpatient physical therapy, rehabilitation medical care and other services to thousands of local residents.  Services are also provided on a referral basis through the Care Clinic of Fayetteville.

Dr. Zellner’s primary professional interest is office based rehabilitation medicine with special emphasis on interventional pain procedures to alleviate the suffering of lower back pain.  Most of these procedures involve injection into the epidural space of the lumbar spine, nerve roots injections, caudal injections and injections into various joints including the zygo-apophyseal joints of the lumbar spine.

Dr. Zellner’s other interests include beaching, reading, skiing, Fayetteville Arts Council, Terry Sanford Booster Club, St. Johns Episcopal Church.  Dr. Zellner and his wife Paula W. Zellner, M.D., a radiologist with Carolina Regional Radiology live in Fayetteville with their two daughters.
